    Shelly Lares is a pioneering force in Tejano music, widely respected as a singer, songwriter, producer, and industry leader whose influence spans more than four decades. Known for her powerful vocals, artistic vision, and unwavering commitment to the culture, Shelly has helped shape the sound and direction of Tejano and Regional Mexican music while continuing to elevate the next generation of artists.

    A 3-time Grammy and Latin Grammy nominee, Shelly has recorded and produced over 25 albums and earned numerous BMI-recognized hits throughout her career. Her work reflects a deep connection to her roots, blending tradition with innovation and delivering music that resonates across generations. As a performer, she has toured extensively across the United States, Mexico, Japan, Korea and Guam, building a loyal fan base and leaving a lasting impact on audiences everywhere she goes.

    In 2022 Shelly retired after 40 years as a full time touring artist and is now the CEO and owner of ShellShock Records 3. A full-service recording studio and label dedicated to artist development and high-quality production. Through her company, she provides a wide range of services including songwriting, recording, mixing, mastering, radio distribution, marketing, and branding. Her mission is clear: “Legacy building one artist at a time.” Known for her hands-on approach, Shelly mentors emerging talent, helping artists find their voice and navigate the music industry with professionalism and purpose. She's composing music for films and television and her remake of "These Boots Are Made for walkin" appeared in the film "Say a little prayer" staring Luis Fonsi. She was also featured on the series LEGUIZAMO DOES AMERICA with John Leguizamo in 2025 highlighting her career.

       

      

    She has since received several lifetime achievement awards and most recently the Legacy Award from the Human Rights Campaign for her work and representation in her LGBTQ+ community. Creative Arts Award from WIFT the Women in film and television, inducted into the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame as well as the nationally recognized Corazon de Oro Award 2025 from SAAHJ. San Antonio Association of Hispanic journalists.

       

      

    Shelly also serves as the first Artist in Residence at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) School of Music, where she leads “Sonido Tejano,” the university’s first official Tejano Ensemble. Through her vision of this groundbreaking program, she brings Tejano music into an academic setting, preserving its cultural significance while inspiring students through live performance and education.

      

    In addition to her work in music and education, Shelly is deeply committed to her community. As a Music Activity Coordinator for Harmony Hospice Care, she uses the healing power of music to bring comfort, joy, and connection to patients and their families—demonstrating her belief that music is not only an art form, but a source of hope and healing.

    Whether in the studio, on stage, in the classroom, or serving her community, Shelly Lares continues to lead with passion, faith, and purpose—leaving a legacy that goes far beyond music.

    She dedicates her life to GOD, FAMILY and INTEGRITY.
